Armando Campero attended the San Carlos Academy of Art in Mexico City, and was taught by Diego Rivera. He later studied with at the Fine Art School in Chicago. He assisted Rivera on the Lerma Tunnel project. In the 1960’s, he was one of the first muralists to work in East Los Angeles. His murals can be found in Chicago, St. Louis, Spain, France, Mexico and Guatemala. He also was a political cartoonist for the La Opinion, a Spanish language newspaper based in Los Angeles, for 15 years. (Robin K. Dunitz, Street Gallery, Guide to over 1000 Los Angeles Murals)
