Heller was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and studied art there as well as in Fontainebleau, France. In 1923 she opened a studio in Philadelphia and did several murals on the East Coast before moving to Los Angeles in the early 1930s. She worked in the art department at MGM Studios. (Robin K.
