Description / Interpretation:

Levi Pónce assisted by Isidro Candelario, Leonardo Tejeda, Alee Ponce, Erica Friend, Monica Cano. A tribute to Pacoima's Ritchie Valens and the other young men who left us in 1959.  In that plane accident Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Roger Peterson, and Ritchie valens were lost.  Behind them is a surreal depiction of Iowa with a 1959 Chevy driving down the road... "drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry" (a popular McLean song alluding to the same incident). Painted in November 2012. Photo © Ian Robertson-Salt | Photo © Javier Martinez (last one)
