Description / Interpretation:

Ben Barnes was born in Springfield, IL and at the age of 17 he moved to Los Angeles.  He immersed himself in the graffiti art scene where he received his nickname, Chubs 217. "I never wanted to develop a specific style for myself. I've always been artistically eclectic, and use a variety of materials and process in creating, so that I can inspire across as many different platforms as possible.  The content of my art varies depending upon what currently inspires me to create." "Color Zip" is a representation of the new Downtown LA, vibrant, lively, cultured and unique.  For years to come this mural will still signify the progression of Downtown LA and how far we have come as a commmunity" - Ben "Chubs 217" Barnes. Photos 1 and 2 © Carlos Chavez
