Annie Sperling studied art at San Francisco Academy of Art, UC Berkley, and UC Los Angeles. Prior to becoming involved with community mural art, she painted backdrops for movies, commercials and television. From 1993-1996, she was the program coordinator for the Sunset Junction Non-Profit Youth Center, and from 1996-1997 she was heavily involved with the creation of four murals for the MTA community betterment plant.
